In addition to an overnight plan surrounded by Awaji Island’s abundant nature, we also offer day plans that combine a performance ticket with dining at one of the five distinctive restaurants at THE PASONA natureverse retreat.
Against the sparkling night views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Kobe and a star-filled sky, enjoy a fantastical stage production in which Luna and Libris journey through the world of books, blending classical ballet with an original story.
BALLET COMPANY & CREATOR
PASONA Awaji World Ballet
PASONA Awaji World Ballet was founded in 2022 following an encounter between two ballet dancers who evacuated Ukraine amid rapidly changing global circumstances and internationally acclaimed ballet dancer Manami Hariyama. Today, the company comprises 17 members, including Ukrainian ballet dancers and instructors as well as dancers from Japan. Transcending borders and language through ballet, they continue to share the same message of peace and gratitude that has guided them since the company’s founding.
For this production, rising company dancer Taro Kurachi takes on the roles of writer, director, choreographer, and lead performer for the first time, creating a moving stage experience for audiences of all generations, whether or not they have seen ballet before.
STAGE CONCEPT
PASONA HARBOR STAGE — Japan’s Only Offshore Art Stage
Japan’s only permanent offshore art stage, opened on the waters off the east coast of northern Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture.
In this open setting built over the sea, painted stage backdrops are unnecessary. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Kobe nightscape before you, along with the shifting starlight and moonlight overhead, all become part of the performance.
Performance, music, and visuals come together to gently awaken the senses and offer an extraordinary escape from everyday life. Located next to THE PASONA natureverse retreat, the venue is easily accessible for both overnight guests and restaurant diners.

New Ballet Production “The Book of Libris”
An Original Story Journeying Through the World Inside Books
One night, Libris, a mysterious man, appears before Luna, a 16-year-old girl on the verge of giving up on her dreams. Guided by him, Luna journeys into a world of books woven from celebrated ballets including “La Ventana,” “The Flames of Paris,” and “Romeo and Juliet.”
Through this dreamlike journey, Luna rediscovers the importance of dreaming—something she had nearly forgotten. A story of dreams and hope that brings together the beauty of classical ballet and an original narrative.

Weather Policy for Performances
The safety of our guests and performers is our highest priority. Depending on weather conditions, the performance may be modified or canceled.
Decision Time:5:00 PM on the day before the performance
Criteria:If any of the following conditions are forecast within the two hours before or after the scheduled performance time:
- Average wind speed of 5 m/s or higher (10-minute average), or a strong wind advisory is in effect
- Hourly rainfall of 0.5 mm/h or more, or a heavy rain advisory or high wave warning is in effect
